Our Philosophy

What is Holistic Pet Care?

Holistic veterinary medicine differs from other veterinary medicine in that it takes a more natural approach to your pet's health care. It takes into account not only your pet's physical health, but also the emotional and psychological well-being. We emphasize preventative measures rather than having to fix problems. Through proper nutrition, regular daily care, minimizing toxins, and eliminating stress, your pet's immune system strengthens, enabling it to heal itself and naturally ward off potential disease. We believe in the body's innate wisdom to heal and do not accept that chronic disease is an inevitable state of being.

Conventional veterinarians often over-prescribe potentially harmful drugs such as antibiotics, steroids, pain medications, vaccines, and other pharmaceuticals. Instead, we rely on proper diet, natural herbal supplements, homeopathic remedies, and alternative treatments. Such treatments include VOM (Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation) Chiropractic Adjustments, Acupuncture therapy, Ozone therapy, Homeopathy, Homotoxicology, Aromatherapy, Cold Laser therapy, and Reiki, among others.

Our stance on vaccination is to minimize them. We encourage vaccinal titers to test antibody presence in the blood, rather than continuously adding more potentially harmful toxins to your pet's body. If your town requires a rabies license, our veterinarians may write you an exemption certificate based on the titer test and your pet's medical condition.

Nutrition is everything to a pet's overall health. We recommend raw diet, as it is most biologically appropriate and what your carnivore companion would eat in the wild. For over eleven years, Dr. Buchoff has perfected his formula. If you have any questions about raw diet, please email us.

Regular office visits and bloodwork will ensure your pet's systems are balanced and are able to prevent infection and disease. We encourage puppy/kitten wellness consultations to sit down and set your pet on a holistic path from the start.
